Obverse description High-relief depiction of the Discobolus (discus thrower) after the classical Greek sculpture, occupying most of the field, with the Greek legend ΟΛΥΜΠΙΑ inscribed vertically to the left. The border features a continuous Greek meander (key) ornament interrupted by small rectangular sections. The French mint cornucopia privy mark appears near the base of the figure.

Reverse description Central field depicts a seated Aztec figure in ceremonial headdress, flanked on the left by the five Olympic rings and on the right by a flaming Olympic torch, all set against radiating lines emanating from the central composition. Ten pre-Columbian Aztec glyphs or symbols are arranged in relief within rectangular compartments around the upper border. The legend MEXICO 1968 appears along the lower rim.
