Obverse description Central device depicting a cylindrical roll of tobacco flanked by two large tobacco leaves, all surmounting two clay smoking pipes crossed saltire-wise in the field. The legend CANONGATE is inscribed along the lower portion of the field in raised Roman capital letters. The token is bounded by a prominent milled or denticled border encircling the entire design.
