| Obverse description | Within a raised beaded border, a central incuse circle encloses the denomination legend HALF / PENNY / TOKEN in three lines across the field. The peripheral legend TUNSTEAD & HAPPING arcs around the upper portion of the coin between the beaded rim and the central circle, while the date 1812 appears in the lower field below the circle, also between the circle and the beaded rim. The design is entirely typographic, with no pictorial device, the lettering boldly rendered in serif capitals. |
