Obverse description The obverse reproduces the reverse design of the ancient tetradrachm of Ptolemy I Soter, depicting Athena Alkidemos striding right, wearing helmet and aegis, brandishing a spear and holding a shield, with an eagle at her feet. The partial legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ appears along the left field, and a monogram is visible in the lower central field. The design is set within a beaded border.
