| Obverse description | Two allegorical female figures in high relief occupy the octagonal field: at left, a seated figure representing the City of Paris, crowned and resting beside a shield bearing the Parisian coat of arms, gestures toward a standing figure of Fortune at right, who holds aloft a cartouche inscribed 'M.A.C.I.' and bears a balance or tray in her other hand; flames and smoke rise in the background. The engraver's signature 'BARRE F.' appears at the left edge, and the legend 'IGNIUM DAMNIA RESARCIT' (She repairs the damage of fires) runs along the lower border. |
