Reverse description The central field bears a seven-line Dutch verse inscription below a decorative cluster of three large bells intertwined with rose branches in high relief. Broken chains hang to the left and right sides of the field, symbolising liberation. The date 1918 appears in the lower exergue, with the engraver's signature 'Alf. Mauquoy' below it, and the legend in Dutch surrounds the entire design along the rim.
