Garhwal's coinage during the 1770s reflects the kingdom's precarious position between Gurkha expansion pressing from the west and the fragmenting remnants of Mughal suzerainty to the south. Lallat Shah's reign was consumed largely by these external pressures, and his silver issues were struck in limited quantity from a small hill-state mint with no permanent infrastructure to speak of.
The KM#C20 type is among the scarcer documented issues from this ruler.
