| 正面描述 | Diademed bust of a ruler facing right, rendered in a debased late-antique style characteristic of early Anglo-Saxon coinage. The hair is depicted with pellet-and-crescent ornament, and the face retains a schematic but recognisable portrait quality. A pseudo-legend composed of degenerate Latin letterforms runs before the bust in the field, unintelligible as a coherent text. The design derives ultimately from late Roman imperial prototypes, transmitted through Merovingian intermediaries. The flan is irregular and slightly uneven, typical of hammered electrum thrymsas of this period. |
