| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central motif consisting of a plain cross with a pronounced globule at its base, set within a beaded inner circle. A continuous Latin legend surrounds the inner circle in the outer field, the lettering partially retrograde and showing the debased epigraphy typical of early seventh-century Kentish gold coinage. The design reflects strong Frankish and late antique influence, consistent with the thrymsa series attributed to Eadbald of Kent. The flan is irregularly shaped with a slightly uneven strike, and the relief is bold despite the small module. The composition and iconography align with the ecclesiastical and royal patronage of coinage in early Christian Kent. |
