Obverse description A full skeleton personifying Death is depicted seated cross-legged atop the globe, arms crossed and skull slightly bowed in an attitude of dominance, with a scythe visible to the right. The globe below shows continents in low relief with flames and smoke rising around it. The legend arcs around the upper field, and the artist's signature and date appear in the lower exergue.
