Obverse description Youthful bareheaded effigy of Duke Charles III in right-facing profile, depicted as a juvenile with short cropped hair. The bust is armoured, showing elaborately engraved pauldrons and a decorated cuirass, with a beaded collar visible at the neck. The portrait occupies the central field and reflects the Renaissance hammered style typical of mid-16th century Lotharingian coinage. A continuous Latin legend encircles the bust within a milled border.
