Anhalt-Bernburg was a tiny Saxon principality with an outsized military obligation during the Seven Years' War. Victor II Frederick supplied troops to the Prussian alliance, and the associated costs of mobilization and quartering pushed the principality to strike subsidiary silver across multiple denominations — this sixth-thaler among them — to meet payroll and local expenditure demands that larger territorial coinages couldn't efficiently address.
