1/3 Thaler - Victor II Frederick

Victor II Frederick ruled Anhalt-Bernburg from 1721 until his death in 1765, but this denomination was struck only during the middle stretch of that reign. The 1/3 Thaler — equivalent to 8 Groschen — occupied an awkward but practical position in the Saxon-influenced currency system used across the Anhalt principalities, filling the gap between smaller everyday coins and the full Thaler that minor courts like Bernburg rarely struck in quantity.

Anhalt-Bernburg's minting activity under Victor II Frederick was modest and intermittent, which accounts for the relatively limited survival of this type in consistent quality.
