Obverse description Within a circular legend, a rampant lion passant to left is depicted between two large towers, surmounted by an ornamental arch. The date 1675 is divided at the top of the field, flanked by the mintmaster's initials I.G.B., while the denomination mark 2/3 appears in an oval cartouche at the base of the central device. The legend, rendered in Latin, commences at the upper right and reads MONETA. BRVNSV:, identifying the issuing city of Brunswick.
