Obverse description The rampant Brunswick horse leaps to the left across a groundline, rendered with bold relief typical of late 17th-century German coinage. Below the horse, in the lower field, the fractional denomination '1/6' appears within a small oval cartouche adorned with a wreath border. The surrounding circular legend reads 'D G RUD AUG & ANT ULR D D BR & LUNE', identifying the joint rulers Rudolph August and Anthony Ulrich as Dukes of Brunswick and Lüneburg by the Grace of God. The legend is set in Roman capitals between the inner and outer borders of the coin.
