Friedrich Christian of Saxony, known in Polish as Ksawery, served as regent of the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth between 1764 and 1768 during the interregnum and minority disputes following the death of Augustus III. He was never elected king — the throne went to Stanisław August Poniatowski in 1764 — yet coins continued to be struck in his name at the Dresden mint through the regency period, creating a brief and administratively anomalous series. The five Koppicki references suggest distinct die marriages across the run, a reflection of Dresden's methodical workshop practice rather than any single commemorative intent.
