| Obverse description | Crowned quartered shield of arms of the Counts of Stolberg occupies the central field, displaying the heraldic devices of the joint rulers Jost Christian and Christof Ludwig II. The date 1739 is divided across the left and right sides of the shield, with the denomination fraction '1/3' inscribed below. The peripheral legend, rendered in Latin, reads IOST. CHRISTI. U. CHRISTO. LUD. GRAF. Z. STOLB. K. R. W. U. H., identifying both co-ruling counts and their titles. The overall style is consistent with German Baroque coinage of the early eighteenth century. |
