Additional information

John George IV ruled Saxony for just three years before dying of smallpox in April 1694, almost certainly contracted from his mistress Magdalena Sibylla von Neidschutz, who had died of the same disease weeks earlier. His brief electorate was consumed by the affair — she wielded extraordinary influence at the Dresden court, and contemporaries debated openly whether he had neglected affairs of state entirely. The 1692–1693 dating on this denomination means production ceased before his death, making the window of issue narrow even within an already short reign.
