Obverse description Draped and armored bust of John George III, Elector of Saxony, facing right, wearing a cravat and cuirass with elaborately rendered drapery. The portrait is rendered in a vigorous late Baroque style with flowing curled hair falling to the shoulder. The peripheral legend encircles the effigy, reading IOH: GEORG: III. D: G: DUX SAX: I: C: M: A: & W:, abbreviated in the customary form for the elector's full titulature. The rim is raised and well-defined with a fine toothed border.
