| Obverse description | Bust of Duke Henry III of Saxe-Römhild facing right, depicted in contemporary Baroque style with flowing long curly wig and armored shoulders draped with a mantle. The effigy is rendered in high relief with fine detailing on the periwig locks and breastplate. The circular Latin legend runs along the inner edge of the milled border, reading D. G. H. D. S. I. C. M. A. & W., an abbreviation of the ruler's full title by the grace of God. The portrait occupies the majority of the obverse field, with the date 1690 integrated into the legend. |
