Obverse description Central field displays the quartered royal arms of George II as King of Great Britain, comprising the three lions passant of England (quarters one and four), the lion rampant of Scotland (quarter two), the fleurs-de-lis of France (quarter three), and the Irish harp (quarter four), with the Hanoverian escutcheon of pretence at centre. The shield is surmounted by a large electoral crown. The circumferential legend in Latin runs along the toothed border, reading the full royal and electoral titles of George II.
