Obverse description Central quartered coat of arms displaying the heraldic quarters of the Prince-Bishopric of Liège, topped by an elaborate crested helm with foliate mantling extending to either side. The date 15-48 is split and placed to the left and right of the shield within the field. The surrounding circular legend reads in Latin, identifying Georg of Austria by the grace of God, with star-shaped separators between words. The overall composition reflects the German Renaissance style of mid-16th century ecclesiastical heraldic coinage.
