Obverse description The traditional rampant horse of Brunswick leaps to the left in high relief at the centre of the field, its flowing mane and tail rendered with fine detail, above a ground line of laurel sprigs. The mint mark M.C. appears in the exergue beneath the ground line. A continuous Latin legend surrounds the design along the inner border, reading FRIDERICVS GVIL . D . G . DVX BR . ET L M.C., identifying Duke Frederick William of Brunswick and Lüneburg.

Reverse description Within a raised inner circle, the denomination is boldly displayed in three lines as VI / EINEN / THALER, with the date 1814 below, all separated by small rosette or quatrefoil ornaments. A peripheral legend along the outer border reads LXXX EINE FEINE MARK CONV . M . VI EINEN THALER, indicating the Convention standard fineness and the relationship of the coin to the Cologne mark of fine silver.
