Frederick William, the "Great Elector," struck these coins during the period immediately following his decisive victory at the Battle of Fehrbellin in June 1675 — the engagement that shattered Swedish military prestige in northern Europe and confirmed Brandenburg-Prussia as a legitimate military power.
