Obverse description Central shield bearing the eleven-fold quartered arms of Stolberg, surmounted by a crowned helmet. The date 1762 is divided on either side of the shield, flanked by the mintmaster's initials. Below the shield, the denomination fraction 1/3 appears within an oval cartouche, with the fineness inscription FEIN and SILB divided to either side, attesting to the silver standard of the coin. The surrounding legend names the joint counts of Stolberg in abbreviated Latin form. The overall composition is rendered in a formal heraldic style typical of mid-eighteenth-century German territorial coinage.
