背面描述 A displayed Imperial double-headed eagle with spread wings occupies the central field, its breast bearing a shield charged with the Electoral and Saxon quarterly coat of arms. The eagle's two heads are turned outward and the talons grip the lower field. The mintmaster's initials I·E·C· appear in the lower exergual area. The circumscribed Latin legend reads SAC·ROM·IMP·PROVISOR ITERVM I·E·C· XL·EINE MARK F· 1/3, referencing the Elector's role as Provisor of the Holy Roman Empire and the coin's fineness and denomination.

附加信息

Frederick August III—later Frederick August I of Saxony—was Elector during a period of mounting pressure from Revolutionary France, and the Saxon court's financial obligations to the Holy Roman Empire made silver coinage a practical necessity rather than a ceremonial one. The 1/3 Thaler denomination had been a Saxon workhorse since the seventeenth century, filling the gap between the heavy full Thaler and the smaller groschen fractions that dominated everyday trade.

Buck 183 cross-references cleanly with KM#1032 without recorded die anomalies in the literature — no known varieties distinguish this date.
