Obverse description Bare-headed, draped bust of Frederick August III, Elector of Saxony, facing right, with elaborately curled and ribboned hair dressed in the late Baroque manner. The effigy is rendered in high relief with fine detail to the hair and truncation. A circular Latin legend surrounds the bust along the rim, reading FRID·AVGVST·D·G·DVX SAX·ELECTOR, identifying the ruler by name and title. The field is otherwise plain, drawing full attention to the portrait.
