Obverse description Armored and draped bust of Frederick August I facing right, wearing a long curled wig styled in the manner of the late Baroque period. The effigy is rendered in high relief with fine detail on the armor, including decorative shoulder pauldrons and a ornate gorget. A circular legend surrounds the bust reading D. G. FRID. AUGUST. REX POLONIARUM & ELECT. SAX., identifying the ruler as Elector of Saxony and King of Poland. The field is smooth and slightly concave, framing the portrait with characteristic early eighteenth-century German coinage style.
