Frederick Alexander ruled Wied-Neuwied during the opening years of the Seven Years' War, and this fractional thaler belongs squarely to that disrupted period. The small Rhenish county had limited minting rights, and issues from this reign are scarce partly because production was compressed into a narrow window before wartime conditions made small-denomination silver strikes increasingly impractical.
