1/3 Thaler - Frederick Adolphus

Frederick Adolphus ruled Lippe from 1697 until his death in 1718, a period when the fractional thaler coinage of the smaller German principalities was largely driven by the need to participate in regional trade circuits dominated by larger neighbors. Lippe had no mint of its own with consistent output, and third-thaler issues from this reign are scarce survivors of a short-lived and low-volume coinage program.

The Ihl reference places this among a narrow die grouping. Few examples are documented across major collections.
