Obverse description Right-facing draped bust of Francis I, Holy Roman Emperor, depicted in elaborate period costume with armored pauldron and richly ornamented mantle, his long curling wig rendered in high relief in the Baroque manner. The portrait is bold and finely engraved, occupying the majority of the obverse field. A beaded inner border frames the design, with the Latin legend disposed around the periphery beginning at the lower left and continuing clockwise.

Reverse description Crowned double-headed imperial eagle displayed, with wings spread, each head facing outward to its respective side. The eagle bears on its breast a large quartered shield of arms representing the composite territories of the Habsburg dominions, including the arms of Austria, Hungary, Bohemia, Lorraine, Bar, and Tuscany among others. The eagle holds a sword in its right talon and an orb in its left. The mint mark letters K-B appear in the lower field beneath the eagle's tail. The date 1748 and the devotional legend IN TE DOMINE SPERAVI are distributed around the periphery within a beaded border.
