Obverse description Armored bust of Duke Charles I facing right, wearing elaborately engraved plate armor with decorative shoulder guards, his long curled hair falling to the shoulder. The effigy is rendered in high relief in the Baroque style. The circular Latin legend reads CAROLVS D.G. DVX BRUNS. ET LVNEB., with the mintmaster initials B·I·D· appearing in the lower field beneath the bust truncation.
