Obverse description Armored bust of Duke Anthony of Lorraine facing left, wearing a floral crown, his long hair falling to the shoulder; the duke holds an upright sword in his right hand, its broad blade prominently displayed in the left field. The effigy is rendered in a late-Gothic style characteristic of early sixteenth-century Lotharingian coinage. A beaded inner circle separates the portrait from the encircling Latin legend, which reads the ruler's titles across the full circumference of the coin.
