Obverse description Central field occupied by a large, elaborately rendered heraldic achievement consisting of a quartered shield displaying the arms of Brandenburg and Halberstadt, supported by a crowned eagle and a lion rampant, surmounted by a cardinal's hat with pendant tassels and a crested helm above. The composite coat of arms is rendered in the late Gothic style typical of early sixteenth-century German hammered coinage. An inner beaded border separates the armorial display from the peripheral legend. The circular Latin legend reads around the entire obverse field.
