附加信息

Adolphus Frederick IV ruled Mecklenburg-Strelitz for just four years, from 1752 until his death in 1756 — which makes a coin dated 1760 an immediate puzzle. The duchy was administered under regency for his minor heir, Charles II, during these years, and coinage continued to be struck in the predecessor's name through that transitional period, a practice not uncommon in the smaller German states where administrative continuity outweighed strict dynastic accuracy.

The 2/3 Thaler denomination was the workhorse of North German silver coinage throughout the eighteenth century, pegged to the Reichsthaler system at a rate that made it broadly acceptable across Protestant trading territories.
