At the apex of the cartouche a small seated allegorical figure is flanked by symmetrical floral sprays. Within the central field, the three-line Latin motto IUSTITIA ET CONCORDIA appears in bold Roman lettering, with the date 1776 inscribed below, followed by a stop. The field is unlettered save for the central inscription, with no peripheral legend, lending the design a monumental and emblematic character typical of Swiss cantonal coinage of the period. |
