| Reverse description | The reverse presents a richly ornamented cartouche composed of elaborate Rococo scrollwork, flowering acanthus branches, and at the base a large serpent or dragon displayed horizontally, forming the lower border of the frame. At the apex of the cartouche a small seated allegorical figure is flanked by symmetrical floral sprays. Within the central field, the three-line Latin motto IUSTITIA ET CONCORDIA appears in bold Roman lettering, with the date 1776 inscribed below, followed by a stop. The field is unlettered save for the central inscription, with no peripheral legend, lending the design a monumental and emblematic character typical of Swiss cantonal coinage of the period. |
