At the lower left, an ornate cartouche bears the arms of Basel, rendered in high relief with elaborate Baroque scrollwork framing. The circular Latin legend reads DOMINE · CONSERVA · NOS · IN · PACE ('Lord, preserve us in peace'), separated by rosette stops, and runs along the entire periphery within a dentilated border. |
