Reverse description Central device consists of four mirrored and interlocked 'B' monograms arranged in cruciform symmetry, forming a bold Baroque cross with a small star or rosette at the centre intersection. The design alludes to the initial of Bern repeated in each quadrant. The surrounding Latin legend, separated by ornamental cross stops, reads BENEDICTVS SIT IEHOVA DEVS ('Blessed be Jehovah God'), with the date 1679 incorporated into the legend, all running clockwise within the milled border.
