Obverse description A nimbed angel, shown facing and standing, supports the arms of Zug — a quartered shield bearing the canton's distinctive chequered device — with both hands, the wings spread behind the figure. The date 1623 appears in the upper field. A circular Latin legend runs along the entire periphery within a beaded border, reading MONETA NOVA TVGIENSI.
