| 正面描述 | Facing lion's head rendered in high relief, depicted full-face within a beaded border. The mane is rendered with bold, radiating strokes characteristic of Cypriote artistic convention of the period. The musculature of the face and the open muzzle convey a naturalistic ferocity. The dotted border frames the design in a precise circular arrangement. |

Amathus was the most stubbornly Eteocypriot of the Cypriot city-kingdoms, resisting Hellenization longer than its neighbors and maintaining its own non-Greek script well into the fourth century. This issue dates to the period when Cyprus was caught between Persian overlordship and repeated Greek attempts at liberation, most notably the revolt of Evagoras of Salamis, which collapsed in 381 BC and left the island's dynasts recalibrating their loyalties. The Rhoikos type is among the scarcer denominational issues from Amathus, with the BMC and Tziambazis specimens together representing a very thin documented population.
