Obverse description A dolphin leaping to the right, rendered in high relief with naturalistic musculature, occupies the upper field. A horizontal dotted line runs across the lower portion of the flan, dividing the field and serving as a groundline beneath the marine creature. The flan is irregular and broadly oval, characteristic of early Lycian hammered coinage. The overall style reflects the Archaic artistic tradition of the eastern Greek world under Achaemenid influence.
