Obverse description Griffin seated left in profile, depicted in a bold and naturalistic archaic-to-classical style. The creature raises its right foreleg in a characteristic pose, with wings spread upward and curling at the tips, a beaked head turned slightly, and a long serpentine tail curling beneath the haunches. The musculature and feather detailing are rendered with considerable artisan skill within the broad circular flan.

Reverse description Three-quarter perspective frontal head of a bull facing right, a distinctive and technically accomplished rendering, with filleted horns adorned with a ritual band. The magistrate's name ΚΛΕΑΝΤΙΔΗΣ is inscribed in Greek letters disposed around the central type. The entire design is set within a shallow incuse square, a hallmark of early Thracian coinage from Abdera.
