Reverse description Within a deeply recessed incuse square, a laureate head of Apollo faces left, rendered in the refined Classical style typical of Thracian mint coinage of the mid-fourth century BC. The deity's features are well-modelled, with neatly arranged hair bound by a laurel wreath. A linear square frames the portrait, and the ethnic inscription ABΔHPITEWN is distributed in Greek letters around the border of the incuse square, identifying the issuing city of Abdera.
