Beschrijving voorzijde Youthful bare head of Dionysos facing left, rendered in fine archaic-to-classical style with delicately modelled features. The deity's flowing locks are bound with a wreath of ivy, the leaves of which are visible across the crown and behind the ear. The portrait occupies the majority of the flan, with the neck truncation visible at the lower field. No legend appears on the obverse.

Beschrijving keerzijde A broad-bodied amphora with a wide mouth and prominent high loop handles occupies the central field, rendered in careful relief with a flared foot and ribbed neck. The vessel is depicted frontally and serves as the city's principal reverse type, referencing Mende's celebrated wine trade. The ethnic legend ΜΕΝΔΑΙΩΝ is disposed around the amphora, with ΜΕΝΔ to the left and ΑΙΩ to the right, all in archaic Greek lettering appropriate to the late fifth and fourth centuries BC.
