| Obverse description | Bare male head facing right, rendered in the archaic-to-early Classical Greek style, with finely detailed short wavy hair arranged in neat locks across the scalp and falling behind the neck. The facial features are modelled with naturalistic precision, including a well-defined eye, straight nose, and subtly parted lips. The neck is truncated at the base, and the field surrounding the portrait is plain and unlettered. The overall style is consistent with Chalcidian mint production of the early fifth century BC. |

| Reverse description | A stylised human eye depicted in profile, with a globular eyeball at centre flanked by almond-shaped lids, rendered in relief within a shallow incuse square. The legend ΣΚΙ-Ο, an abbreviation of the city ethnic ΣΚΙΩΝΑΙΩΝ (Skionaion), is distributed around the eye device within the incuse field. The incuse square has slightly irregular, recessed borders typical of early hammered coinage from this region. The combination of the eye type and civic ethnic is a distinctive and well-documented iconographic choice for Skione. |
