| Reverse description | Tyche, the personification of Fortune and divine protectress of Marcianopolis, stands facing with head turned to left. She holds a ship's rudder in her extended right hand, symbolising guidance and destiny, while cradling a cornucopiae in her left arm, emblematic of abundance. The reverse legend, arranged around the periphery in two registers, records the name of the civic governor and the city ethnic in Greek. The composition is characteristic of civic bronze coinage of Moesia Inferior under the Severan dynasty. |
