Obverse description Radiate, draped, and cuirassed bust of Emperor Traianus Decius facing right, portrayed with short beard in the characteristic style of mid-3rd century Roman provincial coinage from Antioch. The emperor wears a radiate crown with clearly rendered spikes, and the paludamentum is fastened at the right shoulder. A circular Greek legend surrounds the effigy reading ΑΥΤ Κ Γ ΜΕ ΚΥ ΔΕΚΙΟC ΤΡΑΙΑΝΟC CΕΒ, identifying the emperor by his full titulature. The portrait exhibits the bold, slightly rough engraving style typical of the Antiochene mint workshop during this period.
