| Reverse description | Zeus Aëtophoros enthroned to the left on a low stool-throne, his draped lower body rendered with careful drapery folds; his extended right hand supports an eagle with spread wings, while his left hand grasps a long sceptre. In the left field, the magistrate's monogram ΑΡ appears above a sphinx seated left upon a horizontal amphora, serving as the civic symbol of Chios. The magistrate's name ΤΙΜΟΔΑΜΑΣ is inscribed in the exergue. The ethnic legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs along the right field, identifying the issue as struck in the name of Alexander the Great. |
