| Obverse description | Youthful bare head of Heracles facing right, clad in the Nemean lion-skin headdress, the scalp drawn over the crown with the beast's muzzle and forelegs visible at the nape and cheek. The bold high-relief portrait displays finely engraved curling locks escaping beneath the pelt, conveying the heroic idealization standard to the Alexandrine coinage tradition. The field is plain, and the flan is bordered by a dotted inner circle typical of posthumous Chian issues. |

| Reverse description | Zeus Aëtophoros enthroned left on a low backless throne, his right arm outstretched bearing an eagle with closed wings, his left hand grasping a long sceptre rising vertically behind him. In the left field, the monogram ΑΡ appears above a sphinx seated left atop a horizontally placed amphora, serving as a Chian civic badge. The magistrate's name ΤΙΜΟΚΡΑΤΗΣ is inscribed in the exergue, and the ethnic legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟΥ runs along the right field, identifying the issue as struck in the name of Alexander III the Great. |
